I am a Counselling Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience working with adults in both NHS and private practice. I offer individual and couples therapy and have trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, working with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties across different stages of adult life.
Over the years, my work has also drawn my attention to the role relationships play in shaping emotional wellbeing. A few years ago, I became particularly interested in the work of Terry Real and his dynamic approach to couples therapy, known as Relational Life Therapy (RLT). I am now trained as a Certified Coach in RLT, which informs my couples work alongside my ongoing individual practice and broader psychological training.
I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and am registered and regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
I work with adults experiencing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties and periods of transition or uncertainty. Many people come to see me when difficulties feel entrenched or when familiar patterns keep repeating despite efforts to address them.
Alongside individual work, I also work with couples who are struggling with ongoing conflict, emotional distance or difficulties communicating. This work is suited to couples who want a clear and structured way of understanding what is happening between them and what may need to change.
In individual therapy, I draw on a range of psychological approaches, with psychodynamic thinking as a central influence. This involves paying attention to how past experiences, particularly in relationships, may be shaping how you feel and respond in the present.
In couples therapy, I work using Relational Life Therapy. This is a focused and structured form of couples work that helps partners understand unhelpful patterns, take responsibility for their part in those dynamics and work towards clearer communication and change.
