Accepting new clients
My path to becoming a therapist has been far from conventional. Growing up in Moscow, putting myself through university in the US, changing careers multiple times, completing an MBA in France, and eventually building a life in the UK have given me a personal understanding of resilience, change and finding opportunities for growth.
I have always been curious about people and the unique stories that shape our lives. Helping others gain insight, overcome past traumas and present obstacles, and move towards a more fulfilling life is one of the most meaningful aspects of my work as a psychotherapist and a constant source of personal and professional learning.
Whilst I have broad psychotherapeutic training, I now predominantly use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and am an Accredited EMDR Practitioner (UK and Europe). This means that, in addition to completing specialist training, I have met rigorous professional standards and maintain them through ongoing learning, regular supervision and continued professional development.
Alongside my part-time EMDR practice, I continue working as a Human Resources Consultant. My corporate background gives me a strong understanding of the challenges of demanding, fast-paced careers, and I work with professionals across a wide range of ages and backgrounds. I also offer therapy in Russian.
Training and Professional Accreditations
I work with a wide range of difficulties, including all types of anxiety, stress and burnout; trauma and PTSD; difficult or distressing life experiences; depression and low mood; low self-esteem, negative beliefs, shame and guilt; life transitions and significant change; relationship and sexual difficulties; infidelity; work, career and professional challenges; bereavement, loss and others.
I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy to help people recover from psychological difficulties and symptoms that may have developed following traumatic or difficult experiences. EMDR is a well-established, evidence-based therapy endorsed by NHS, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), the World Health Organisation and many other bodies.
Of course, there may be other reasons you are seeking help with, and I will be happy to discuss your specific situation and needs to determine how we can work together on moving your life forward.
I predominately utilise EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) which is a powerful, evidence-based, distinctive therapy that helps people recover from psychological problems linked to traumatic and difficult life experiences.
Whilst best known for treating PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), EMDR can help with a wide range of mental health conditions and concerns, including depression, anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, grief and loss, low self-esteem and performance anxiety, amongst others. Internationally recognised, EMDR therapy is endorsed by NHS, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), World Health Organisation, and many other bodies.
Rather than relying solely on talking about difficult experiences, EMDR uses body’s natural mechanisms in assisting the brain to reprocess difficult memories, leading to gradual reduction in troubling symptoms and facilitating healing from past traumas. EMDR therapy helps people to get to the point when they still remember traumatic event or events, but these events do not have as much power over them any longer. People become capable of choosing their actions and responses based on what they believe is appropriate in the present as opposed to being guided by their past. I find it particularly valuable because it can help people move beyond simply understanding something towards genuinely feeling differently.
